---- Pictures related to Theodore and Mary MALTBY, etc.

CFH-HAA. Col. Theodore Dwight Maltby, b. about 1816 (Augustus W.5, Stevphen 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). m. Mary BAYLOR, in Texas, a widow, in 1848. He died at New Orleans about 1870, probably at the home of his son. According to Capt. Ralph Bledsoe, of Boise, Idaho, whom the compiler knew while residing in Boise, 1908-1909, he was a Colonel in the Santa Anna War: Capt. Bledsoe said "he was a handsome man, of charming personality and a fine conversationalist." At one time Col. Maltby and Capt. Bledsoe owned a freighting company which operated in Idaho, making many trips down to old " Fort Boise." Capt. Bledsoe owned a photopraph of Mr. T. D. Maltby--indeed a handsome man! Capt. Bledsoe told the compiler that Colonel Maltby was very dark complexioned, with rosy cheeks. Capt. Bledsoe would not part with the picture. In later years I tried to locate the Captain in hopes he would allow it to be photographed, but evidently by this time the Bledsoes had died. If is a strange thing, but I know little of the descendants of Col. Stephen Maltby--my own, great, great grandfather. My grandfather told me Thoedore Dwight Maltby had a son whom it was believed died unmarried. (Letters were returned).
